The Kelsey Civic Center Disability Cultural Center
ABOUT THE PROJECT
This center is the nationβs first municipally funded Disability Cultural Center, serving as a gathering place for individuals with and without disabilities to connect, celebrate, and foster disability culture and community pride. The DCC offers a range of resources and programming, including a gallery space, areas for pop-up disability-forward businesses, and co-working facilities. Its design emphasizes accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring a welcoming environment for all members of the disability community.
Above the DCC, The Kelsey Civic Center is a pioneering housing development featuring 112 affordable homes designed for residents with and without disabilities, with 25% of units reserved for individuals with disabilities.
